Mary Anne C. Murphy, O.D.

Dr. Murphy's college career began at the United States Air Force Academy where she majored in Physics. After a few years, she moved to California and completed her undergraduate degree at U.C. Berkeley. She went on to complete an additional four years of optometric doctoral training at U.C. Berkeley graduating in 2002. She received multiple honors throughout her graduate career including: - Golden Retinoscope for Outstanding Graduate Student - George I. Deane Memorial Leadership Award - RGPLI Award for Excellence in Contact Lens Fitting - Corrine Engall Award for Excellence in Pediatric Care - Vision Service Plan Award for Primary Care Excellence, and - Marchon Award for Excellence in Ophthalmic Dispensing. Dr. Murphy was selected to perform her internships at leading eye clinics across the nation. She completed specialty healthcare training in ocular disease at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, Miami, FL and received advanced training in primary care and dry eye at Lovelace Eye Hospital, Albuquerque, NM. Immediately upon graduation, Dr. Murphy moved to the Front Range to begin her career. She is now an active member of the Colorado Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. She currently serves on Advisory Boards for several ophthalmic industry companies. She speaks professionally, educating her colleagues on behalf of companies such as Bausch & Lomb, Allergan, and Synergeyes specialty hybrid contact lenses. She continously completes post-graduate training at prestigious institutions across the country. Dr. Murphy grew up in a small town in Northwest Indiana. Through college, she worked as an optician and decided on the career of optometry very early. Dr. Murphy is married, has two children and a loveable (sometimes) labrador. She enjoys hiking, skiing, golf and anything else that takes her into the mountains.  

Scott N. Gunderson, O.D.

Dr. Gunderson attended Brigham Young University, where he studied Biology and Business Management.  He was awarded the Presidential scholarship - the University's highest undergraduate honor - as well as a scholarship from the prestigious Mayo Clinic.  Upon graduation, he enrolled in the UC-Berkeley School of Optometry to pursue his Doctorate of Optometry.  While at UCBSO, Dr. Gunderson was actively involved in the student branch of the American Optometric Association (AOA), serving as the Berkeley trustee.  He was also the recipient of the following awards: George Lee Endowed Fund for excellence in ophthalmic optics; Varilux Scholarship for excellence in optical prescribing and dispensing; HOYA Scholarship for excellence in ophthalmic optics; American Optometric Association Award for student leadership; and the American Optometric Foundation/Carl Zeiss Vision Fellowship for excellence in academics and leadership and a dedication to the practice of independent optometry.  As part of his clinical curriculum, Dr. Gunderson received specialty training in co-management of glaucoma, cataract, and corneal surgery at OMNI Eye Services of Atlanta.  He also received specialty training in the management of dry eye, diabetic eye disease, and glaucoma at VA clinics in Albuquerque, NM, and Sacramento, CA.  Dr. Gunderson grew up in southeast Minnesota as the youngest of six children.  Shortly after graduating high school, he fell in love with the scenic beauty of the Colorado Rockies during a week-long road trip with some friends to Rocky Mountain National Park.  He is excited to be here with his wife and two boys, to become part of this great community.  Dr. Gunderson enjoys singing, tennis, cycling, and spending time with his family in the outdoors. Dr. Gunderson will also be providing FREA patients services in spanish!

William Keats, M.D.

Dr. Keats is a member of our specialty provider team seeing patients by referral. Dr. Keats is a skillful anterior segment surgeon having performed thousands of cataract and refractive laser surgeries. Dr. Keats served as clinical director at several local laser refractive surgery centers before making the decision to return to private practice patient care where he is able to create lasting releationship. Dr. Keats and Dr. Murphy have worked as a team since 2002. Dr. Keats enjoys skiing, hiking, and biking and ANYTHING else he can do in the mountains.

Judy has been with Front Range Eye Associates since the very beginning! Having relocated from Arizona, Judy is settling back into her cold weather clothes but her energetic and caring personality are enough to warm any room. Judy brings over 20 years of optical experience with her to Front Range Eye Associates helping provide depth to our team. She has a flare for fashion and can help design the most perfect pair of eyeglasses for you. Judy has two grown children, three precious grandchildren (who are perfect, by the way!) She's happy to share...just ask!
 

Ashley, Certified ParaOptometric Technician

Ashley is Dr Murphy's right hand! She assists our doctors in getting patients ready for their visits and collecting lots of pertinent information. Ashley is also in charge of contact lens ordering and dispensing with a keen eye for detail and accuracy. She will work with you to find the best solution for your vision care needs. Ashley in actively involved in pursuing her paraoptometric education and recently received a new level of certification, equipping her to help care for patients ever better! These days her hands are full with twin three year olds and a pug. She and her husband Jesse love to go fishing and camping and just recently moved back here from Washington. Her favorite hobby is eating out and spending time with her family.
 

Karra, Certified ParaOptometric Assistant

Karra joined Front Range Eye Associates in September 2009. She immediately became an integral part of our clinical team and her warm personality and astute clinical acumen will surely make you feel very comfortable. She brings to FREA years of customer service experience and a bright smile. Karra enjoys traveling, trying new foods and hobbies and spending time with family.

Christa, Optician

Christa joined Front Range Eye Associates in June 2009.  She has 6 years of optical experience and acquired a collection of 15+ pairs of prescription eyewear before having LASIK in 2007.  Now she has enjoyed starting her collection over with non-prescription, polarized sunglasses.  She enjoys helping those with high or complicated prescriptions and  also enjoys helping children find the eyewear that would be the most useful and aesthetically pleasing—“It’s a joy to see that the right pair of glasses can make a huge difference in a person’s day to day life”.  Two of her three children have vision challenges:  her son is red/green color blind, and the other had surgery on both eyes to correct strabismus. Christa’s hobbies include:  Camping, riding an ATV’s and dirt-bikes with her husband and three children, sewing, and baking.
